ive longboarded for a  few years now, and im thinking about buying an old-school skate deck and learning to skate pools. is it worth it? some say its waaay to hard to pick up

Buy a regular board or something bigger. Don't nessarily get a "old school" board as they tend not to have a useable nose.
As for the learning curve it's not too steep at least once you learn to carve, pump and drop in. From there it's super easy. Just don't be a pussy!
Which "pools" are you skating because theres a giant lack of them around kevin, I think you mean bowls.
Also a leason from an old bowl skater "When your about to fall...don't"

i believe the saying is, if theres a will theres a way, and like tim said, i think a regular "street deck" that is like 8-8.5 inches is allot more practical than an old school deck. once you figure out the basics of carving a pool it is super fun
