d3o intelligent molecule pads
« on: January 13, 2010, 08:31:05 AM »
Just got myself a pair of these knee-pads through special order:
http://www.sixsixone.com/d3o.aspx <- EvoKnee

Thinking about getting the lite elbow pads too.

Has anybody had the chance of trying these out? They fit well and I'm pretty excited to give them a shot. Have to special order them unfortunately for now.

I can see that working well for shock abortionist but I think it would get "road rash". They need hard plastic caps to prevent that. I can see this stuff working well in helmets though.

I know I've played with helmets made out of that stuff and it's kinda funky.  Looks like those are designed for mountain biking and from my early days when I used to use my mountain bike armor for longboarding I can tell you it doesn't stand up very well.

I have a pair of shock shorts similar to those on the site but less complex with the whole molecule thing. I think the 661 products would be good under a leather suite or something but not as an outer layer.

ive ridden them downhill mountain biking, and ate shit pretty hard into a rock garden...its a good backup plan for under jeans, or if you are using them just for impact protection. the evo's cloth top rips within a couple of falls, but the impact protection is just as much as a hard shell design
